DSDN - 104 - 3D Print Model Photograph

DSDN - Project 3 - One Rendered Image

Attempted to give a sense of "Alien" life. Since my idea originated from Architecture, Human anatomy / bone structure and disease, I felt as If I was creating some new type of "stem" disease that would effect and distort the human structure. So I felt an alien theme fitted with this newly designed "Alien" form of Osteoporosis, or similar diseases.

3D Sketch models created from "kit" parts from Solidworks.

Details from Renders.

Shapes for my "Shape kit"

Rough sketches, then decided to try making sketches in 3D form out of shapes from precedent images to continue with developments in 3DsMax.

DSDN - 104 - Project 2 - First Acylic Model.

This was a play around with Acrylic, to try find my limitations, and get a general idea how the model will turn out. While experimenting with with the ability to bend acrylic, the model easily burnt as I required high temperatures to create a spiral.

DSDN - 104 - Project 2 - Sketch Models

Sketch models created from my hand-drawn sketches. Which I shall mix together, features that I liked about them, that suit the word "organic".

DSDN - 104 - Project 2 - Drawings

Simple Sketches, to give an idea of where to start on sketch models, each sketch is a different aspect/view/section of my chosen model.

DSDN - 104 - Project 2 - (2)Precedents

For my Selected model I choose my final from P1 due to the fact I was interested in seeing what type of forms and shapes I could achieve out of only bending acrylic. As I'm wanting to keep my theme organic, I feel that layers and the use of bending would help show a natural style.

I choose this image as I intend to create a stand to hold my model and possibly house a L.E.D to add lighting of my final.

DSDN104 - Final Rendered Image

Final render of my developed model. I saved the model as a .png and edited it in Photoshop by using the blur tool to emphasise on movement. I made several zoomed-in renders of the model to try show off detailed areas where textures and bump maps had been applied.

DSDN104 - Further Developments # 3

Here I decided to develop the base model further to try help it suite my three words more.

Clone + Edit Mesh + Squish + Twist
Mirror + Twist

DSDN104 - Further Developments #2

Development Renders, I choose to use the mental ray render-er in 3Ds. After experimenting with material filters: ceramics/porcelain/rubber and glass. I finalized had choose glass as my filter, as the other materials felt too plastic and unnatural for an organic theme. While using glass, I was trying to achieve a transparent leaf like effect, as you would see with a leaf in sunlight.

DSDN104 - Further Developments

Series of practice renders with light+shadow
Here I was trying to focus on highlighting the layered curves with light and shadow, to try get a layered effect, kind of thinking over-lapping petals while trying to keep a slight organic and abstract theme, and maintaining the swirl shape/direction.

Research on possible textures to use.

DSDN104 - Selected Model

Out of my 81 models, I had chosen this model as it had a basic organic form with slight abstraction. Although It no longer resembles my original model, I feel as if its taken the form of my third precedent image, a slight cone shape, dried up flowed bud?

DSDN104 - Solidworks - First 3D Model(s)

First model I had created in solid works, I took the basic outlines and shapes I liked from my precedent  images and traced them for a basic shape in solidworks. They were then to be imported into 3ds for further development in a series of 81 alliterations which would have to relate to my three worlds that I had chosen.

  • Organic(adjective):

With the main idea of natural shapes and form, dynamics by nature and natural chaos. Images of organic/natural/chaos and abstraction, other ideas of elegants and architecture.

Reason:  I choose this image because I liked the natural symmetry that this plant holds, in size and pattern(circular shapes on the inner-piece of the plant.)
Image 2 - Source

Reason: This image was chosen due to the texture, the rough bumpy scaly surface drew my attention, along with the constant variants of colors between green and reds.

Image 3 - Source

Reason: Constant spiraling-inwards type pattern gave me ideas of the head of an object,  I have rough ideas of how I can incorporate this plants organic features into certain shapes, a ball/lamp or such.

Reason: Constant ringlets.
Image 4 - Source

Reason: The constant of varying upward pointing petals.

Reason: Interior "fanged?" coil.
Image 6 - Source

Reason: Coiling spiral.

Reason: The macaroni shapes merging in with each other?
Image 8 - Source

Reason: Interested in 3D/2D illusion, this architecture gives me an idea of better 3D form for illusion.
Image 9 - Source

Reason: These buildings reminded me of stacked coins or the wooden block game "Jinga" a structure that looks as if it could be pulled apart, manipulated and easily destroyed.
Image 10 - Source

Reason: Spider web like design of this architecture.
Image 11 - Source

Reason:  Liked the chain-link formation

Image 12 - Source

Reason: Reminds me of water(rain drop) or a liquid substance scattered on a glass or glossy surface, but in a solid metal form.
Image 13 - Source

Reason:  Spiked(porcupine!), really busy and disorderly.
Image 14 - Source

Reason:  Organized chaos, pipes spread at end as if shattering, breaking away, bent or destroyed.

Reason:  I found this tattoo appealing as pattern is questionable, to me they look like organic shapes, like a honey cone.

Reason:  The honey cone patterns/shapes with in the spare.

Reason: The symmetry, although one of my words are "chaotic(noun)" I have ideas of unruly pattern over/ordered object&form.
